Thermal Ribbons
The most expensive consumable on any printer, is the print head. In thermal transfer printing, the
thermal ribbon is in constant contact with the print head. Therefore to ensure that you get maximum life
from the thermal head, it makes sense to use only quality ribbons.
DataCol recommends and supplies ONLY the best ribbons from ARMOR.
We can supply Thermal ribbons suitable for all materials and the complete Datamax range in the following
widths and lengths.
Material Types
Wax - AWX® 500 is a general purpose ribbon particularly adapted to
standard label printing where good mechanical resistance is required.
The ink provides an excellent print quality of picket and ladder barcodes, very small text, large
characters, and logos.
Wax/Resin Mix - APR® 503 combines a multi receptor compatibility with a good level of
performances. This high versatility allows it to fulfil the requirements of many applications. The ink
provides an excellent printing quality of all types of barcodes, very small text, large characters, and
logos, at a high level of "blackness" on various types of material including, uncoated and coated papers and
synthetics. Those characteristics remain at speeds up to 300 mm/s (12 ips).
Pure Resin - AXR® 7+ is dedicated to applications requiring a perfect printing quality and
excellent mechanical resistances.
The ribbon structure allows printing on many kinds of synthetics (PVC, PET, PE, PP), on various matt and
high
scratch resistance, and good heat resistance, up to 180°C (356 °F).
Those characteristics remain at speeds up to 250 mm/s (10 ips).
