DATAMAX NEWS

1 October 2008 - Firmware Update for I-Class Printers

The latest release of firmware for the I-Class series (and the re-badged Meto Mi4)  series of printers provides additional protection for your printer. Under the new firmware, the printer monitors the use of the motor that feeds the labels, and when it exceeds pre-set limits, to stop the stepper motor overheating, it will introduce a pause between each label.

Should the motor overheat and seize, it will draw excessive current, and in our experience, generally causes an "explosive" failure of the printer power supply. Currently this will cost at least NZ $1,000 + GST to repair. The enhanced firmware should stop this happening.

Once it has been identified that the printer is "high use" then we can carry out a Datamax authorised modification, that will allow the printer to run continuously again, WITH NO RISK.

If you use your I-Class printer for over 1 hour continuously, please contact us for further details of this upgrade, that will give you peace of mind for a minimal investment.

1 July 2008 - New M-Class Mk 2 Series of Printers

Datamax announce the new M-Class Mk II series of tabletop bar code label and RFID printers designed with powerful features to meet the requirements of a wide variety of applications. This compact, industrial strength printer offers an outstanding value with its modern look and feel and broad range of features for manufacturing, warehousing, healthcare, logistics, or retail applications. The speed, solid die-cast metal construction, large graphical display and modular design put the M-Class printer family a step above its competitors. Fastest in its class, the M- Class does not give up on rugged and reliable performance with the solid cast metal chassis and durable steel cabinet.
The easy-to-use graphical display makes navigation through the menus quick and simple for users at any level, and the embedded MCL-Collection saves your customers money by eliminating the need for dedicated PCs. The modular design allows you to keep your printer inventory low because we make it easy to physically configure at the last minute to meet your customer’s specific requirements.
The proven M-Class offers the best warranty in the industry with 2-year or 2 million linear inches on the printer and 1 year or 1 million linear inches on the printhead.
The new models in the M-Class Series are the M-4206 Mk 2, M-4210 Mk 2 and the M-4308 Mk 2.
The previous M-Class Series (M-4206, M-4208 and the M-4306) are discontinued with immediate effect. Full spares, options and service support for the this series will be available for many years.
